In our country while women and children are undoubtedly regarded as divine and worshipped and loved respectively, they are on the other hand, subjected to discrimination, cruelty, dowry death, sexual harassment and domestic violence as a result of gender bias. Consequently, with the view to prevent and curb such evils the legislature has taken care of and incorporated a number of legislations covering respective areas of operations. The “Law Relating to Women and Children” has, thus, come up as a new subject that has been introduced by the Indian Universities and the Bar Council of India. This book provides brief description of relevant provisions of various enactments pertaining to women and children. As this book is primarily meant for LL. B and LL.M students of Indian Universities, it covers all important provisions of Law in relation to rights, succession, special benefits maintenance, adoption, custody, protection and crime against women and children, with special reference to constitutional position of women and children.
