Everybody in the world wants to be happy. That’s why we devise ways and means to be happy. We want happiness for now and forever. But we should keep in mind that happiness is based on our actions. We are always craving and longing for happiness, but we make happiness evasive. Our style of living as well as thinking does not let us enjoy happiness. When we get happiness, then instead of enjoying it, we wish that “when I get this thing or that thing, I will be happy; I am doing this work and once there is positive result, I will be happy”. In this way, we keep on postponing happiness. In our youth, we thought that “When I pass the examination, I will be happy.” After passing the exam, we thought that if “I get a good job, I will be happy and so on”. This ever-increasing craving for the results of our actions leads us to nowhere; and we are bereft of happiness. We are always making efforts to be happy but the fact is that we are never happy. Now it is evident that we are suffering from syndromes (ailments) of ‘when’ and ‘if’. These syndromes put our happiness on hold until we get whatever we wish. Remember, no magic can make us happy.
